I haven’t written anything for the past few days because we haven’t
done any sailing! The weather
forecast has put us off moving. It
was predicting strong winds with gusts over 30knots from the north, where we
originally wanted to go. Life here
in Pythagoreion is so easy. We are
safely moored against the town wall.
There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. The café over the road has let us use
their toilets regularly and we continue to use their free WIFI. We have water and electricity all for
the princely sum of 10 euros a day.
So we have kept thinking “why move?” On Saturday we hired a car with the Luries and drove around
the Island. It is a particularly
green and fertile island, which is nice.
Yesterday we took a day trip by ferry to Turkey to see Ephesus, which
was interesting, but very hot.
After a morning walking around the site with no shade, we spent a couple
of hours in an air-conditioned Starbucks cooling off and drinking cold drinks!
Today we have been doing domestic things to get ready to leave
tomorrow. The weather report is
still a bit iffy, but R has found a suitable protected anchorage for us to go
to that is only 15 miles due south from here, so hopefully a downwind sail on
Genoa won’t be too bad.
The town is still hoppy, but we shall try to get to sleep as we want to
start early tomorrow. The
temperature below has got down to 28C!
